What Does The Cherokee Seven Pointed Star Mean?

Let's talk about the Cherokee 7-pointed star. This symbol is an important one in Cherokee  culture, and we're excited to share its story with you.

What's the Big Deal About This Star?

The Cherokee 7-pointed star isn't just any star. Each point stands for one of the seven clans of our people – Bird, Long Hair, Paint, Deer, Wolf, Blue, and Wild Potato. These clans are the pillars of our society, each unique but together making us who we are. Each clan had a specific job and no one clan was more important than another. That is why you won’t find a point at the top of the Cherokee Star.
